Release 4.0

These release notes include all relevant changes (improvements, documentation changes, fixes) that have been implemented since the previous release which was Brightlayer IM version 3.0. This release has the version number Brightlayer IM version 4.0.

Brightlayer Portal

Changes to last version

With the version 4.0 we introduce the “Brightlayer Industrial Machinery (BL IM) Remote Maintenance Service”. This is the second service that is launched on the BLIM, next to the Dashboard Service that had been launched with version 1.1. The handling of Users of the service, devices, connection and separate user groups is easily possible with the BLIM User and Service management that is part of the BLIM portal tools. Additionally, a “Device configuration” has been added as a feature to the BLIM portal. This feature allows users to add new devices to the Dashboard service themselves without having to contact the Eaton service team.

Brightlayer Remote Maintenance

The main elements of the Remote Maintenance service are :

BLIM Portal Subscription Management

An additional “Remote Maintenance” (RM) service can be added for every new user group. Every new RM service would contain at least one (1) end-to-end connection. Additional connections (up to 3 connections per RM service for now) can be added. RM services can be added independently of Dashboard services. The subscriber can just use the RM service on BLIM.

BLIM Portal User Management

For the RM service two (2) new roles have been defined :

Remote Maintenance (RM) Service

The RM service contains three (3) tabs: Gateway device, User device and Connections. In case the subscriber has added more than one RM service, the RM service to be shown has to be selected from a drop down menu.

Brightlayer Dashboard

Changes in the Dashboard service (updates from Brightlayer IM version 3.0)

Brightlayer IM Portal Device Configurations

When a Dashboard service has been added to a subscription (Start, Flex, Flexplus, etc.) the Device Configuration is accessible for the administrators of the subscription and the Dashboard service from the main drawer of the portal. After adding a new device, the configuration data for the MQTT connection to the Dashboard service can be downloaded and uploaded to the GW. This procedure would work for any GW not only for the Eaton NubisNet GW.
